DIGITALLY REMASTERED DUCHAMP DISCS
Marcel Duchamp. (1887 - 1968) one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and forerunner of the dada movement, designed these patterned discs, while experimenting with optical phenomena, to be 'played' on a phonograph turntable where, viewed with one eye closed, they give amazing illusions of depth.
True to his intention not to create 'art,' he 'manufactured' 500 sets of the discs.
Below are four samples of Duhamp's 'rotoreliefs' (1935), digitally remastered by spreadhead.net to mimic the experience.
